Tee Boxes & Bunkers Renovations on Colony West's Championship Course

X

We are excited to announce that we started the process of renovating all of the tee boxes and bunkers on the Championship course.

Built in 1971, Colony West has long been recognized as one of the most fun, and challenging, golf courses in South Florida. Originally designed to host the Jackie Gleason (Now the Honda) Classic, the course is known for its ability to bring out the very best in our guests.

In 2018 the course underwent a major renovation with all 18-greens being replaced. In 2021, the course owners, the City of Tamarac, held a Grand Opening for the brand-new 11,000+ SF clubhouse. This beautiful new building boasts a full-service restaurant and a 3,000+ SF Event space that is complete with all necessary Network/AV capabilities as well as an accompanying Bridal suite.

We are about to unveil yet another phase in the new Colony West. Beginning in July of 2022, Colony West began a complete renovation of all of the tee boxes and bunkers on the Championship course.

The tees have been completely re-done by a combination of laser-leveling, soil enrichment, completely new turf, and by fully building brand-new forward and family tees. The tee portion of this project will significantly enhance the experience at Colony West for each of our guests.

Another aspect of the project is the reshaping and re-building of all of the Championship Course bunkers. Each bunker has been re-shaped and enhanced with new turf on all of the bunker faces. We have installed drainage, and fabric liners, within each of the bunkers which will enhance the durability of the actual bunkers while significantly increasing the guest experience.
